Energetic and proactive Wandering Rose co-founder, Olivia Everett, has led the way for arts programs and events like the annual Battle of the Bands, the InDIYpendent Culture Faire and Open Mic Nights at the Napa Valley Roasting Company to grow-and-flourish. After becoming Vice-President of the board for the Arts Council Napa Valley, Olivia announces this month that Wandering Rose will continue its mission as an online presence -- exclusively serving the public as an interactive online resource and networking-hub for all artists who choose to use it. All artists, musicians and creative arts advocates are encouraged to utilize WanderingRose.org website as a local arts social network and resource directory tool!

All Arts Workshop

crowAll-Arts Workshop was a weekly Wandering Rose all-media shared studio-time for local artists held from 2009-2010. This workshop included painting, illustration, music, story-writing and poetry. It was held once a week at La Bella Terra - Custom Iron Gates and Fences, and ultimately moved to the Napa Valley College.

Eventually, the students at the Napa Valley College adopted the All-Arts Workshop to be a program of the All-Arts Club.

Battle of the Bands

The  Napa Valley Battle of the Bands is an annual local music competition co-sponsored by the Napa Valley Opera House. The finale in 2010 was held on the main stage of the Opera House where the 8 finalist bands played to a sold out audience.  The crowds experienced a vast array of energetic and innovative bands that exist within Napa’s youth culture. With limited venues within the Valley to play rock music live, this concert provides a one of a kind experience for local musicians and audiences.

Starting in 2009, the First Annual Battle of the Bands gave the Napa community the chance to witness the hard work and dedication these bands put into their performances, as well as encourage the public to take part in Napa’s music scene.  Out of 20 bands that applied, eight were selected. Those bands were: Body or Brain, Cloverleaf Drive, Defying Truth, The Helen Kellers, Nana De Carlo, Serf and James, The Subtones, and Viridian City. All these bands can be found on MySpace.com.

In 2010, host Patrick 'Pappy Hour' Williams took it to the next level.  Three preliminary rounds were added to event preceding the finals and over thirty bands competed to play on the main stage of the Opera House.
